I know a lot of you out there struggle to add the “finishing touches” to your space. Many of you feel confident in tackling the bigger pieces for your room, and are able to navigate colors, textures, and functionality. And because of this, I receive a lot of clients that need helping pulling their room together. So as a thank you to you loyal readers out there, I’ve decided to start a “How To” blog where you can explore simple and practical tips on how to get those finishing details to look complete your space! This week’s piece will be about accessorizing your bookcase. For my example bookcase, I’ll be using Bassett Furniture’s Compass Tall Bookcase, which I just simply love. It comes in three different finishes, and can also be customized in lengths and glass doors. It’s such a great piece to use for rooms that you want to have that “built in” feel, and its oak grain works perfectly across many different styles. From coastal/modern farmhouse to industrial it really works across many different avenues, so that’s why I love using this piece for the purpose of this blog. Check out my step by step tutorial below!
I hope you are able to use these above tips to help stylize your own bookcase now with confidence! In the next couple of weeks, I’ll continue to explore with you more in -depth the concepts of Layering, Composition, and Themes a bit more so you can decorate your space like the Pros. But of course, I’m always a phone call or email away if you need my help. ‘Til next time!
This is so helpful. I’ve never quite been able to figure out how to put everything in there and make it look good. I can’t wait to put this to use!
You’ve inspired me to redo my bookcase this weekend (since we all have so much time on our hands right now during shelter-in-place) my bookshelves always looks like a storage closet and is way too packed. I’ll let you know how it goes (or FacetTime you panicking).
Any tips on how to create a make-shift office? My fiance and I are both working from home and are suddenly in need of two office spaces that are far enough apart so we can both be on calls at the same time in our tiny home.

I needed this, bookcases were always baffling to me!
