Please note: the below recommendations are just that, recommendations.  We have not been provided accurate measurements of the space, and therefore, are not to be held liable for any disproportioned renderings or products not fitting in the designated space.  All  recommendations provided via video or below are to be used as an aid in answering your design dilemma, and not to be used as an absolute.  The below items may contain affiliates links, meaning Dwelling Envy Interiors may receive a small commission off of any sales at no additional cost to you!

OPTION 1

BOOKCASES

We love the idea of adding a built-in library if you will, once you fully accessories the bookcases, this look would be such a statement piece as you walk up the stairs or first walk in.  However, you will want to note the depth of the bookcases vs the width of the hallway.   This idea is not recommended if you do not have enough space ( at least 30″) for traffic to walk back and forth through.  We also recommend going with an experienced carpenter for a flawless look, however, we did source a few options that may work for a more DIY / Budget Friendly approach.

These above options from Pottery Barn are great not only for their style, but for their flexibility.  You can add and remove tiers to adjust to the necessary lengths needed for your hallway.  If you wish to add lighting, we have provided a few options that we think would work well.  Depending on the option chosen, you would either mounted on the wall above the bookcases, or drilled into the frame itself.

OPTION 2

STATEMENT MIRROR WALL

Our second option for your hallway is creating a mirrored wall with the use of oversized mirrors and sconces, creating a fun and inviting wall, creating a more light and airy overall feel to your space.  We believe adding mirrors with a curved edge would be a great way to break-up all the rectangles / boxy-ness of the hallway.  Below are some suggested options in various price points, that could work based solely on aesthetics seeing as we do not have measurements for your space.  Another hack to think about, instead of adding hardwired lights, you can try the Puck Light Hack, adding a battery / remote control operated light system.

Some of these mirror options may be smaller than the rendering, however, you could adjust for this by mounting the mirrors on the wall off of the floor (maybe between 2-2 1/2 feet from ground)

OPTION 3

MILLWORK | WOOD PANELING | FRETWORK

Our last option involves adding custom millwork, wood paneling  / fretwork.  This is a our favorite option for your space considering the size and location of your wall.  We highly suggest using a skilled carpenter to create a custom look for your space, however, there are several “kits options” available if you have a handle on how to do it yourself.  We’ve found a great article which outlines the benefits of using a trained professional which is worth a quick read here.  Below are some DIY kits in styles we think would work great with the style of your home.

And lastly, we love the idea of combining the above options into a hybrid look.  For instance, using a more subtle fretwork wood paneling and combining this with a few sconces and wall mirrors or artwork.

Thank you so much for watching our latest Coffee Talk, we hope we’ve given you some great ideas you can implement into your space!
